Stars and Stripes

Stars and Stripes was formed by members of Boston hardcore band Slapshot in the late 80's. Being big fans of Oi! themselves, they wanted to make a band from America for American kids to fallow, rather than always having to hear about the scene in Europe. In 1989 S&S released the 7' single "Drop The Bomb" on Vulture Rock Records, just to give a taste of what was to come on their full-length album. "Shaved for Battle" was released the same year on singer, Jack "Choke" Kelly's own label "Patriot Records." Stars and Stripes only played one show during their original stint as a band. On November 11th 1989, they shares the stage with friends and label mates Forced Reality, and "The Bruisers" at Bunratty's in Allston, Massachusetts. For the show S&S got Jeff Morris and Scotty Davies, from The Bruisers to play rhythm guitar and bass, due to Jordon Wood playing lead/rhythm guitar and bass on the recording. Slapshot carried on while Stars and Stripes was put on back-burner until Chris Lauria joined Slapshot in 2002 and took over guitar duty for S&S. In 2004 they came out with the album "One Man Army" released on I Scream Records. Changing their sound to a little more street punk rather than Oi!, they still brought catchy sing-a-longs and epic choruses to the fans.
